Aims of the SOS Bussosbus-exterior-03

Initially running on Saturday nights from 9:00pm to 3:00am, the primary purpose of the SOS Bus is to offer immediate, non-judgemental assistance to people at risk along Newmarket's High Street. Parked up on the wide paved area outside the town's main Post Office, the Bus will remain static for the duration of each shift.The SOS Bus provides first aid, advice and help to vulnerable people experiencing issues such as:

  • Emotional Distress
  • Alcohol and Substance misuse
  • Social Isolation
  • Lack of immediate finance
  • Relationship Breakdowns 

Staffing the Bus

A team of 3 to 5 will staff the SOS Bus on Saturday nights between 9:00pm and 3:00am. Each shift will be managed by a Shift Leader overseeing a voluntary team of 3 to 5 trained Shift Volunteers.
